Virginia Hunger Solutions is an initiative to fight hunger and improve the nutrition, health, and well-being of children and families throughout the Commonwealth who struggle with poverty.

Virginia Hunger Solutions

Virginia Hunger Solutions was launched on November 1, 2013 with funding from the Food Research and Action Center. Its mission is advanced through public education, advocacy, and outreach.

The program works to:

Protect and strengthen the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which currently serves over 800,000 Virginians;

and Increase participation in the National School Breakfast Program, which reached only 51.6 percent of students who qualified for free or reduced-priced meals during the 2013-2014 school year.
